Sarah Stars on VH1 Reality TV Show

In the autumn of 2003, Models with Conscience member Sarah starred on VH1's two-hour, reality-based show, Surviving Nugent. Along with six other contestants, Sarah, a vegan and dedicated animal rights activist, faced challenges posed by outspoken rock musician and big game hunter, Ted Nugent. On the show Sarah said, "One thing I think about being vegan is it takes a lot more courage and strength and power than people really think. They think that vegans are wimps. I think vegans are the strongest people on the planet ... I think it's wimpier to shoot a poor, helpless animal." The show aired on the cable television network VH1 several times in October of 2003. Details are available at http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/surviving_nugent/series.jhtml.

Wendy, Heather, and Joanne Participate in
"Think About Fur" Campaign

In the summer of 2003, Models with Conscience members Heather, Wendy, and Joanne participated in the Looking Glass "Think About Fur" campaign. The trio's thoughts about fur are posted on the campaign website at http://www.looking-glass.co.uk/thinkaboutfur/models.htm. There, the three women decry the suffering involved in the fur industry and encourage visitors to choose cruelty-free alternatives. For example Joanne says, "As long as there is an industry in favor of the torture and slaughter of animals for their coats, there will not be harmony in the world." According to the director of Looking Glass, the campaign is receiving a good deal of positive feedback and many people are asking what they can do to help support the campaign. The answer? It is quite simple. In Wendy's words, "Lose the fur!"

Heather Writes for Large UK Web Sites

Models with Conscience founder Heather Chase is now featured as a columnist on the large UK-based web sites VeggieGlobal and Looking-Glass, which receive over 400,000 hits each month. The sites' creators invited Heather to begin contributing in April of 2003 and she enthusiastically accepted. Very much in harmony with the spirit of Models with Conscience, the sites offer vast amounts of information about humanitarianism, environmentalism, and animal protection. Heather says, "I enthusiastically applaud the creators of VeggieGlobal and Looking-Glass and all who care enough to explore these sites in hopes of improving the world we all share. I am honored to have this opportunity to share my thoughts with you here." Heather's column can be found at http://www.veggieglobal.com/heather-chase and
